La Carbonera Wax Palm Forest

During this activity you will have the opportunity to walk in the wonderful wax palm forests knowed as “La Carbonera”.

Description:

We will start our tour with a 2 km cycling from Salento to “Pilones” View point, from there we will travel by jeep 45 minutes till El Rocio Eagle´s Nest (Located al 3100 meter above sea level!!). After a good breakfast made it in wood stove, we will enjoy a 30 minutes Hike over the legendary “Camino Nacional to the beautiful “Escuela” view point. From this point the last 3 km to reach “La Linea” is cover by jeep this spot is the highest altitude in our trip (3480 meters above sea level).

You will appreciate beautiful landscapes while walking and Cycling along ancient roads.
You will be cycling over the legendary “Camino Nacional” is a 7,5 kilometers descent starting at 3480 meters of altitude (La linea) to La Carbonera Wax Palm Forest (2300 Meters above Sea Level) where we will walk inside the forest to understand its environmental importance.

Breakfast and lunch are taken in one of the most traditional farms of the “Camino Nacional “- El Rocio Eagle´s Nest- where you will experience the flavor of the culinary tradition of the Quindío high lands with food prepared in a wood stove. (Departure time 8 a.m. approximate return time 3 p.m.).
